This two-day instructor-led course introduces the security administrator to the Nokia IP Network Security Platforms.

This course provides all the information and experience necessary to deploy, manage and maintain the Nokia family of IP security products (IP390, IP560, IP1260, etc.)

Hands-on exercises enable delegates to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the operations of the Nokia IP Security Platforms and how to use it effectively to manage the IP security environment. This course supersedes the NSA-1.

Objectives

Delegates attending this course will be able to:

• Understand Nokia IP Security Platform product offering and positioning
• Understand Nokia IP Series hardware and software architecture
• Exhibit competency in installing and configuring the Nokia IP Series in a network environment
• Understand auditing, logging and authentication systems
• Manage and maintain the Nokia IP Series in a secure network environment
• Manage third party software installation, upgrades, and removals such as Check Point FW-1 NGX®

Topics covered

In the presentation sessions and workshops delegates will gain an understanding and hands-on experience in:

• Security terminology and an overview of Nokia IP Security Platforms
• Architecture and design of IPSO on both disk-based and diskless platforms
• Platform configuration using Nokia Network Voyager (browser-based management tool)
• Installation and basic configuration of Firewall-1 (or VPN-1) NGX
• Authentication – local and remote with RADIUS/TACACS, and role configuration
• Simple diagnostics
• Configuration: backup and restore
• System administration
• DHCP and PPPoE for small scale installations
• Nokia IP Series monitoring and maintenance
• Overview of Nokia Technical support

Certification

Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance. This course meets all of the requirements for the optional Nokia Security Administrator certification. Delegates should contact Sylvan Prometric (www.prometric.com) if they wish to take the NSA examination.
