Nokia
Nokia offers high-quality training and certification for Nokia for Business Channel Partners and end users through an extensive network for Authorised Training Providers (ATPs).
ATPs are trained and certified by Nokia to provide the highest quality of technical training on Nokia products and technologies. The courses include hands-on exercises that use real-world scenarios to give you a thorough understanding of Nokia products.
Nokia NSA Connectivity
Nokia Security Administration – Connectivity is a one-day instructor-led course, which covers IPSO dynamic routing over the LAN and over Check Point VPN-1. The course covers the theory and practice of routing in a complete Check Point-on-IPSO security system. The course is designed to be hands-on, and during the course delegates will implement a dynamically routed network with routing security, firewall security, and routing over VPN.
Prerequisites
Persons attending this course should have completed the Nokia Security Administration Foundation course, as well as have a working knowledge of internet working concepts and an understanding of TCP/IP, network addressing and subnet masks.
Who should attend
Technical persons tasked with the support, installation, deployment or administration of Nokia security products should attend this course. This could include the following, system adminsitrators, firewall administrators, network engineers, support engineers, installation consultants.
Objectives
Delegates attending this course will be able to:
Topics Covered
- Theory of Dynamic Routing
- Concepts and implementation of RIPv2
- Concepts and implementation of OSPF
- Securing dynamic routing with passwords and keys
- Making communication with less secure areas safe by route filtering
- Theory and implementation of OSPF over a Check Point VPN
- Anti-spoofing, Check Point wire-mode and security implications
While dynamic routing can be used for resilience purposes, this course concentrates on managing and simplifying topology and connectivity. If you intend to design your network so that dynamic routing implements failover to other firewalls, you will also want to attend the NSA High Availabilty.

Nokia NSA Foundation
This two-day instructor-led course introduces the security administrator to the Nokia IP Network Security Platforms. This course provides all the information and experience necessary to deploy, manage and maintain the Nokia family of IP security products (IP390, IP560, IP1260, etc.) Hands-on exercises enable delegates to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the operations of the Nokia IP Security Platforms and how to use it effectively to manage the IP security environment. This course supersedes the NSA-1.
Prerequisites
The delegate will require a working knowledge of inter-networking concepts, a basic knowledge of networking concepts including network topologies and an understanding of the OSI model of networking protocol stacks, a basic knowledge of router concepts, an understanding of TCP/IP, network addressing and subnet masks. Delegates, preferably, should have also completed the Check Point NGX-1 course.
Who Should Attend
Technical persons tasked with the support, installation, deployment or administration of Nokia security products should attend this course. This could include the following, systems administrators, security staff, firewall administrators, network engineers, reseller support staff, installation consultants.
Objectives
Delegates attending this course will be able to:
Topics Covered
In the presentation sessions and workshops delegates will gain an understanding and hands-on experience in:
- Security terminology and an overview of Nokia IP Security Platforms
- Architecture and design of IPSO on both disk-based and diskless platforms
- Platform configuration using Nokia Network Voyager (browser-based management tool)
- Installation and basic configuration of Firewall-1 (or VPN-1) NGX
- Authentication – local and remote with RADIUS/TACACS, and role configuration
- Simple diagnostics
- Configuration: backup and restore
- System administration
- DHCP and PPPoE for small scale installations
- Nokia IP Series monitoring and maintenance
- Overview of Nokia Technical Support
Certification
This course meets all of the requirements for the optional Nokia Security Administrator certification. Delegates should contact Sylvan Prometric (www.prometric.com) if they wish to take the NSA examination.
This course meets all of the pre-requisites for the NSA–High Availability and NSA-Connectivity courses these together provide the in-depth and the hands-on experience necessary for advanced management of the Nokia family of IP security products.

Nokia NSA High Availability
Nokia Security Administration – High Availability is a one-day instructor-led course, which covers the resilient implementation of Firewall-1 on IPSO. The course covers the theory and practice of High Availability in a complete Check Point-on-IPSO security system. The course is designed to be hands-on, and during the course delegates will implement a security system with minimal, known and quantified, single points of failure
This could include the following: System administrators Firewall administrators Network engineers Support engineers Installation Consultants
Objectives
Delegates attending this course will be able to:
- Understand the theory of resilient design
- Understand the IPSO alternatives of clustering and VRRP (virtual router resilience)
- Understand how to combine these mechanisms with power provision, appropriate switching technology and other related technologies to remove all single points of failure
- Install an end-to-end High Availability solution
Topics Covered
- Theory of resilient design
- VRRP – simplified, and traditional mode MC
- IPSO Clustering
- Check Point clustering, cluster objects, synchronisation, sync configuration and tuning by protocol and by delayed sync
- Clustering integration with switches
- Duel power, dual hard drive mirroring
- Check Point multiple link/ISPs
- Static route priorities and failover
- Link aggregation
Please note, this course does not cover the use of dynamic routing as a resilience mechanism. Dynamic routing and routing over Check Point VPN are covered in the NSA Connectivity course, which is highly recommended if you need to understand all of your options in implementing a highly available system necessary for advanced management of the Nokia family of IP security products.
