Breadcrumbs are the trail that users follow as they navigate through a SharePoint Site or subsite.  The Breadcrumbs report provides insight into how users move through the overall site.  A long trail of breadcrumbs (a lengthy navigation path), for example, may show a need for improved structure within the site.
